Corn Maze Fun

For the second year now the Maw family has all gotten together at the Pumpkinaze in West Haven to have a good ole family fall outing. We went this past Saturday night and had a ball. Marek especially loves the "honkin slide", that seems to be his favorite word lately.

Honkin T-Rex

A few weeks ago me and Marcus went to the U of U football game and left Marek with my parents. He was so excited to stay with them that when we left he did not even cry he said bye bye mommy (first time ever)! He was a little excited because grandma told him she was going to take him to get a book at a fun little book store in Bountiful called All Tucked In - any book he wanted. Well he got some fun books that we have been reading non stop and then they went to another store and apparently he would not let her leave the store without this "honkin" di-na-snore...thats just how he says it! So here is it. He drags it everywhere, shows everyone that comes to our door it, and loves it to pieces! Thanks Grandma Jone & Grandpa John :)

I can't believe my baby is 2 1/2 years old. He is so much fun these days. He is so smart and talks non stop. He amazes me with all the things he knows and says. I love that we finally can communicate and he can tell me exactly what he wants and needs. He loves going to school 3 days a week and comes home with the greatest pictures, projects, books, etc all the fun things he learned about for the day. He has awesome teachers and when I ask him who he loves he always says his teachers names & his school friends. I'm way down on the list but hey that is ok. He adores Aggie pup and his daddy and he loves to help me in the kitchen. He is very independent these days. We are so glad he is part of our little family.

Deer vs. My New Car :-(

So this is about the saddest post I have posted yet. In May I had the chance to buy myself a brand new car, 2009, Subaru Outback Sport. I love my car, I had been saving for quite sometime to get a new car and was as excited as a little boy at christmas time. So this morning, like all Saturday mornings in the Fall I have to go to work for about an hour or two. On my way there just about the end of Sardine Canyon, I work in Logan for those who don't know, I hit Bambi. Maybe it was Bambi's mom, I don't know. Let's just say that hitting a deer going 65 mph is not good for your car, whether it be new or old, and not so hot for the deer either. I saw the deer out of the corner of my eye and my first thought was, thank goodness, don't swerve, thanks for teaching me that Dad and Mom. I probably wouldn't be here if I did! My next thought was to BRAKE!!!!! But there was no time I hear a loud thud see Bambi go flying in the air doing flips my hood coming towards me, smoke start billowing out of the hood and my car shutting down. I pull over to the side of the road to realize what just happened. Oh no, the story does not end here. I sit and contemplate for a minute what is going on, then I realize my car is toast. All that money I saved, the great deal, gone! I look in front of me to see Bambi trying to stand up, well without all the graphic details lets just say that wasn't going to happen. Two men pull up in a truck to see if I'm alright, one decides that because the deer was still alive that he was going to shoot it, and so he did, with a pistol! Wow! Another guy pulls up a little later, shakes his head about the first guy and grabs the dead deer by the legs and pulls it in the weeds, wow wow! Did I mention this guy had a handle bar mustache and a cowboy hat and his parting words to me were, "you need one of these", pointing to his Ford F250. So, be that as it may, I still don't have a Ford F250, and at the moment I don't have my Subaru and Bambi is dead, how's that for a Blog!

Honkin Zucchini

So I hear Marcus outside laughing hysterically and he is saying "are you kidding me" he comes in the house with these 2 babies...apparently they were hiding under our huge zucchini plant and have been growing for some time. Marek posed for the picture and then they went straight to the garbage...I have been shredding and freezing zucchini for a month now and I did not want to even try to cut those suckers up. Every time Marcus brings one inside I ask Marek what it is and he quickly responds Zucchini bread! The kid loves the bread so we make it often. We have had lots of fun with our garden this year some things worked and some didn't but all in all it has been yummy.

Umbrella Catalpa

Recently I have had a lot of people asking me about this cool looking tree so I thought I would post a little note as to where and why I like this tree. This is called an umbrella catalpa. It has really big leaves that kind of look like elephant ears. I first saw a tree like this at Lindi's old house in North Ogden and I really liked them. I know, weird, I really like a tree. So I decided that at my first home I would plant a couple of umbrellas. They have really gotten big this year and really full. The trunks get really big but the tree doesn't get much taller then what it is now. So, for all of you wondering there you go.
